Carapace:Chitons

Chitons are mollusks found around the World, including the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Their exteriors are a series of plates beautifully fitted to protect their soft body underneath. When the shell is washed up on the beach, some varieties have an unexpected exquisite turquoise color in the inner chamber. Much of my work, including my figure drawing and painting reflect ideas around home; how variable, vulnerable, complicated and cherished it can be.

The materials used are graphite and oil pastels on paper. Their sizes range from 8" x 10" to 30" x 40". Contact me for further information and prices of these and other pieces of this series.
